The Professional Teachers’ Council NSW (PTC NSW) is pleased to announce the continued endorsement by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) of the Stage 5 School Developed Board Endorsed Course, Active Global Citizenship. An updated version of the course has been produced for use from 2014 to 2017. Satisfactory completion of this course will form part of the Record of Student Achievement (RoSA) for participating students.
The 2014 version of the course is available here:
Schools that commenced delivery of the course in 2012 or 2013 can continue to use the previous course (in 2014 only) available here:
Schools seeking endorsement to deliver Active Global Citizenship will need to apply via Schools Online. All school principals received reminders of this process in January via a Board Bulletin outlining that they should now apply via Schools Online which will open in January 2014 (for 2015 delivery). The 'Guidelines for Course Proposals' has a step-by-step guide for this process and can be found here: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_sc/
Schools can commit to:
- the entire 100 hour course to a cohort, either this year or next (or combined over 2014 and 2015). Schools in this category will be able to enter their students via Schools Online and the Active Global Citizenship course will appear on the students' RoSA.
- If a school simply wishes to trial part of the course, or just a few modules, the BOSTES will not provide an official endorsement to the school because they will not meet the 100 hours of delivery. The course will therefore not appear on the students' RoSA.
Additional information is available by contacting PTC NSW on (02) 9716 0378 and speaking with one of the Global Education Team.
