Teaching Associations' HSC Study Days

Here you will find information for students and their teachers about student study days held by our Professional Teaching Organisations over the course of the school year.

Information will be posted progressively during the year about our associations' HSC Student Study Days. For further information about subject specific student days please go to the Associations section. Here you will find a link to each association's website where you can access registration forms, venue locations and contact details for particular events.

HSC Student Support

Here you will find useful information about key dates for the Higher School Certificate and the School Certificate Examinations and links to the Board of Studies online student support. All the Board's resources HSC resources are available here.

Students login using their four-digit personal ID number (PIN) and student number, which gives access to their exam timetable and past exam papers. Students can also access HSC syllabuses, practice tests, notes from markers and other support materials.

HSC Showcases and Exhibitions

Outstanding works by 2015 HSC students are showcased to the public in a range of exhibitions and performances in early 2016. Exhibitions such as ARTEXPRESSDESIGNTECH and TEXSTYLE will also tour regional centres in the coming year.

 The NSW Board of Studies has an extensive collection of teaching resources available for download or purchase online.

 ARTEXPRESS

ARTEXPRESS is an annual exhibition of exemplary artworks created by students for the Higher School Certificate examination in Visual Arts. The works represent a broad range of subject matter, approaches, styles and media including painting, photomedia, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, graphic design, documented forms, textiles and fibre, ceramics, time-based forms and collections of works.

ARTEXPRESS represents the high standards and diversity achieved by Year 12 Visual Arts students in New South Wales schools.

CALLBACK

Callback is the showcase of exemplary performances and compositions by HSC students of Dance. Performances of Callback have provided valuable demonstrations of HSC standards to students and teachers of Dance since 1993. This is a great opportunity for students who are currently studying HSC Dance as well as for students who are contemplating undertaking this as a course of study. At the conclusion of each matinee performance there is a Q&A with the performers and HSC markers.

Callback will be held in the Everest Theatre, Seymour Centre, in February 2016. As well as the performances, HSC student workshops will be held each day.

SHAPE 2015

A new look Technology exhibition has been launched in 2016. The expanded exhibition features a selection of exemplary Major Projects from Higher School Certificate Design and Technology, Industrial Technology and Textiles and Design students from the 2015 Higher School Certificates examinations.

Shape 2015 opens at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Powerhouse Museum on 26 February 2016 and closes on 8 May 2016.

Texstyle and InTech will still be held in 2016, see dates below.

Design and Technology seminars

In 2016 the seminar program will focus on the Design and Technology Preliminary and HSC courses. Students will learn from professional designers, undertake a digital design workshop, examine the marking guidelines for Design and Technology (Year 12), learn more about sustainability in the design process (Year 11), as well as having the opportunity to view the exhibition.

ENCORE

ENCORE is a program of outstanding performances and compositions by students from the Higher School Certificate Music examinations. It is held annually at the Sydney Opera House.

Performance date and time:

Monday 22 February 2016: Matinee 1.30 pm and Evening 7.00 pm

Ticket prices (includes GST)
Adults* $44.00 and Students $35.00 * One teacher admitted free for every 20 students. Tickets on sale from the Sydney Opera House Box Office from Friday 27 November 2015.

InTech

InTech is an exhibition of outstanding Major Projects from Higher School Certificate Industrial Technology students.

The exhibition covers all Industrial Technology focus areas – Timber Products and Furniture, Automotive, Electronics, Graphics, Metal and Engineering, and Multimedia. The exhibition includes students’ folios that document the design, management, communication and production of their projects.

OnSTAGE

OnSTAGE is a presentation and exhibition of group and individual performances and projects by Higher School Certificate Drama students. The OnSTAGE season at the Seymour Centre is presented by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW and the NSW Department of Education.

OnSTAGE performances

The season of exemplary Drama performances from the 2015 Higher School Certificate will preview on Saturday, 6 February and run from Monday, 8 February to Friday, 12 February 2016 at 1.30 pm and 7.30 pm in the York Theatre, Seymour Centre.

Writers OnSTAGE/OnSCREEN

Writers OnSTAGE/OnSCREEN features rehearsed readings by professional actors and directors of two scripts from individual projects of the HSC Drama examination, plus the screening of three exemplary videos. The readings and screenings will take place in the Everest Theatre, Seymour Centre from Wednesday, 10 February to Friday, 12 February 2016 at 10.30 am.

OnSTAGE and Writers OnSTAGE/OnSCREEN may include contemporary political and social issues and some language that may offend. It is advisable to take this into consideration when deciding the age group of students invited to attend.

OnSTAGE exhibition

Exemplary individual projects by HSC Drama students will be on exhibition in the foyer of the Seymour Centre from Saturday, 6 February to Friday, 12 February 2016. Projects will include costume and set design, promotion and program, and theatre review.

Texstyle

Texstyle is an exhibition of Higher School Certificate Textiles and Design major projects.

Young Writers Showcase

Young Writers Showcase is an anthology of some of the extraordinary Major Works in print, sound and visual media submitted for the HSC English Extension 2 course.

The anthology is launched at the State Library of NSW as part of wordeXpress.

Copies of the Young Writers Showcase are available through the Board of Studies online shop.
