The Governor-General’s Indigenous Student Teacher Scholarship Program aims to assist and support Indigenous university students to obtain a teaching degree.
Scholarships will be awarded annually to one teacher education student from each state and territory with up to eight scholarships awarded each year.
The scholarships will provide $25,000 per year to successful recipients for the life of their teaching degree (up to 4 years).

These scholarships were initiated in 1999, this year through the support of corporate partners a total of thirty scholarship across twenty curriculum areas are on offer to teachers in NSW government and non-government schools and TAFE institutions.
These teachers' scholarships are designed to enhance and enrich the learning experiences of students while providing an opportunity for teachers to further develop skills and knowledge in their field of expertise.
Since the inception of these scholarships over 300 NSW teachers have received NSW Premier's Teacher Scholarships.
